The Brazil football team has their name against five Soccer Worldcup tournaments, after being the only team to have taken part in all 19 games.  With statistics such as these, it’s no surprise they are recognized as a favorite for the South Africa Worldcup 2010.

Brazil hosted the 1950 Soccer Worldcup, which finished in ruins as they were defeated in the finals by Uruguay.  As proof of their frustration, the Brazilian soccer team has never worn white soccer shirts since that year.  In 1958 in Sweden, they were the first team to win the Soccer Worldcup in another continent.

The Brazilian soccer team’s crowning performance was at the 1970 Mexico World Cup where they welcomed their third Soccer Worldcup victory.  But regrettably, this glory was not to be the case again until the 1994 USA World Cup.

At the 1998 France Soccer Worldcup, they were once again recognized as the favorites; however this was not to be the case, with the notorious Ronaldo story at the forefront of everyone’s attention.  But in 2002, after Ronaldo was cleared, all was forgotten at the Korea / Japan Soccer Worldcup and once again the Brazil football team rose to the test and won the championship.

The Brazilian soccer team is robust and has a penetration of talent.  Alongside Spain, they are once again ranked as the South Africa Worldcup 2010 favorites, to clench the Jules Rimet Trophy.

It’s truly tough to single out a couple of players amongst the Brazilian soccer team which is abundant with talent.  However during the Brazil soccer 2009 period, a few legends stood out from the crowd.  To begin with, the exceptional goalkeeper Julio Cesar, who has participated in 18 Soccer Worldcup showcases.  His safe hands continue to be a fundamental feature of the team’s success.  Kaka has become a source of motivation for the Brazilian soccer team following his magnificent performance all through the Brazil soccer 2009 season which resulted in his commendable claim of the Adidas Golden Ball.  And of course Luis Fabiano’s world class performance with five goals including a priceless brace in their victory over the USA, totaling 9 Soccer Worldcup goals to his name.

Brazil’s Coach

Born October 31, 1963 in Ijuí, Brazil, Carlos Caetano Bledorn Verri (better known as Dunga) is no outsider to Brazil football.  As a heated and forceful midfielder, Dunga certainly experienced his fair share of emotions as a Brazilian soccer team player.  At the ripe age of 30, he captained the team to victory at the 1994 USA World Cup.

After 6 years of retirement, Dunga accepted the post as the Brazilian soccer team coach in August 2006, regardless of his deficient experience as a coach.  In his preliminary months he received a lot of criticism as a result of his eccentric manner.  However, he put to rest much of the hesitancy when he led A Canarinha to glory at the 2007 Copa America and the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, as well as ending top of their group in the South Africa Worldcup 2010 qualifiers.  Dunga has said a few times that he plans to retire following this season, so let’s see what transpires and who his successor will be.  It’s anyone’s speculation at this stage.

Brazilian Football Team Accomplishments

• The South Africa Worldcup 2010 is the Brazilian soccer team’s 19th successive FIFA World Cup final. They are the only country to have been present in all Soccer Worldcup events.

• Brazil is the only country to secure the Jules Rimet Trophy five times: 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002.  Of their 92 games played they have reached 64 victories, 14 draws and 14 defeats.

• During 15 June 2008 and 11 October 2009, the Brazil football team celebrated 19 victorious games.
