FamilyFun magazine
Christmas came early for dozens of families this year. The toys they received weren’t wrapped in ribbons or bows, and they had a string attached: Each had to be assembled, played with and rated for FamilyFun magazine’s 17th annual Toy of the Year (T.OY.) Awards.
Through weeks of intensive assessment, toy tester families winnowed down hundreds of hopefuls to this year’s top toys. (We know, it’s a tough job, but somebody had to do it.) Thanks to their valiant efforts, you can now sit back and relax, comfortable in the knowledge that these playthings are all deserving of a place under the tree.

A car that climbs the walls
For ages 8-12
Air Hogs Zero Gravity Micro is the ultimate off-road vehicle. It’s fast and sleek, and it climbs walls like a four-wheeled Spider-Man. Thanks to a powerful vacuum, the racer not only scales vertical surfaces, it can also zip, inverted, along ceilings. Testers absolutely flipped for it. Spin Master, $30
