I am happy with who I am.  Even as I have become a senior citizen, I still am able to find many things that I like to do.  Some of my activities are bringing me back to the days of my youth.  When Christmas rolled around this year we were able to surprise our grandchildren with one of the motion gaming systems and with the recent xbox 360 kinect we were able to get him something that not all of his friends had, but the amazing part was how much fun it was for me to play the games with my grandchildren.

I went through my teenage years learning how to play video games.  They are not the same as the games that are being played today.  I started with a console that played a game that had two lines that can move up and down to hit a ball of light between them.  From looking at the instructions and the advertisements, I was excited at the prospects of the platforms that are being sold today.  Gone were those huge consoles and remote controls that had a big round dial on them.  These games moved as I moved.  In order to play the games, we had to get up and move.  It was something different that I was definitely looking forward to.

Everyone in our family got involved with playing video games on this special holiday.  When I played, I could feel my heart pumping.  It was making me sweat, and I did not mind.  We knew what we had to do after playing the games on that Christmas morning and a couple of more times when we had the chance.  It was time for us to buy our own gaming platform.  We looked forward to getting some physical activity on a regular basis.  It definitely produced the results that we wanted.

There were three different systems for us to choose from, the Nintendo Wii, the Playstation Move, and the kinect, and there seemed to be good things and bad things about each system but in the end we chose the Xbox since that is what my grandchildren already had and they would be able to enjoy it whenever they came over to visit at our house.  We were able to find an exercise game and some party games to go with our new system.

A game that was going to help us workout was our first choice once we brought the system home.  The game made me feel like I a part of the action.  The game allowed for multiple players and my partner so was playing alongside me.  This was an unexpected benefit.  Because we were in the comfort of our own home, there was very little to stop us from exercising.  It was very easy for us to avoid physical activity if it was not sunny and beautiful outside.  Now we would not be able to use that as an excuse.  After a short time, we noticed a difference in how we felt due to the exercise we were getting.  Staying active is one of the best ways for a person to maintain their health, something that is well known.  It was not long before we got some of our friends interested in the gaming system and they started exercising with us.

In the end the biggest benefit we got by buying a gaming system was the social benefits.  As a gamer in my youth, my time was spent alone when playing games.  That is not the way that games are played now.  There are times when I can go online and play a game with my grandchildren even if they are not with me.  I have a connection with a lot of people that has been started or strengthened through the use of the gaming platform.  That was an unexpected result.The xbox 360 kinect price is 159.99 US Dollars
